Peacock Ore/ Chalcopyrite

Peacock Ore is a common name for chalcopyrite or Bornite and is a copper iron sulphide mineral commonly found in hydrothermal veins, contact metamorphic rocks and in the enriched zone of sulphide copper deposits. It is a common ore of copper and is easily recognised because it tarnishes to iridescent shades of blue, purple, green and yellow which is how it got its name. It is often mined as an ore of copper.
